The archaeological and natural area Parco Forza is located at the outlet of Cava d’Ispica, a long natural canyon that crosses the Hyblean Mountains. On this scarcely accessible rocks, many human settlements were created over the centuries. A visit to the Park enables to discover the human traces from prehistoric times until today. The park trails have a breathtaking view on the sheer walls of Cava d’Ispica. On the rocky upland, there are still the ruins of a medieval fortress, the Fortilitium. In the upper part, there are still the remains of the noble Palazzo Marchionale, used until the eighteenth century; it is located on the village of Spaccaforno, the ancient Ispica. On the last edge of the park, at a short distance from the sea, there are the ruins of the ancient church of Saint Annunziata and all around there are tombs, caves used as stables, warehouses and the underground passage called “Centoscale”. The rich Mediterranean plantlife of the Hyblean caves is a distinctive trait of the archaeological area.
