Church of S. Giuseppe

The church is small but it is the symbol of the baroque influence in Sicily. It is located at Piazza Pola and was built from the will of the Benedictine nuns of the nearby monastery. The homogeneous structure features a façade with four pillars supporting four columns, which divide it into three parts. The façade is divided into three orders enriched by different statues of the Benedictine saints. The plan of the church is typical of the monastic architecture, with its oval plant that gave the nuns the opportunity to practice their rituals unnoticed above the vestibule and on the sides of the nave. The covering features a large domed vault made by Agrippino Maggiore from Mineo and Cultrera from Licodia Eubea.

Accessibility
The church is not accessible for visitors in wheelchair or reduced mobility because there are five steps at the entrance. Inside, the tour is accessible because there is a only one floor.
