Church of Saint James Apostle

The Church was built in 1090, on Count Roger’s request, to pay tribute to the success over the Saracens. It was dedicated to St. James, the protector of the city. The Basilica has an elegant baroque façade and it went through numerous renovations because of the earthquakes and the bombing of 1943. Among the most precious treasures that are inside, there are the relic of the arm of St. James Major Apostle, kept in a silver box. On the 25th of July the feast dedicated to the patron saint takes place, with a solemn procession through the streets of the town.

Accessibility
At the entrance, there are some steps with a ramp, which allows the access of people in wheelchairs or with reduced mobility. Inside, the tour is accessible.
