Palace Bellomo Regional Gallery

The Museum of Palazzo Bellomo is located in Ortygia, the old town of Syracuse. It was inaugurated in 1948 but the current arrangement was completed only in the seventies.
Among the collections housed in the museum, there are two sarcophagi of the Governors of the regional government, Giovanni Çabastida and Giovanni Cardenas. The rich art gallery features the Annunciation by Antonello da Messina of 1474 and sacred silver items.
The museum is open all year round, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays. The ticket price is € 8 (€ 4 reduced-price).
INFO: The gallery features two toilets for disabled and has not any architectural barriers that impede the entry to visitors with mobility problems. There is also a reception area with counter and equipment (ex. stands) at a height suitable to visitors in wheelchairs. Different and shorter itineraries for visitors with special needs are available, especially tactile maps in Braille, audio guides and videos in LIS language (Italian Sign Language) only for a short tour. In the exhibition areas and along the itineraries there are rest stops and lifts. Leaflets are provided to inform and guide the visitors.
