Panarea

The island has a volcanic origin and is the smallest of the Aeolian archipelago. In the past it was called “Euonymos” and the current name is due to the morphological and geological features of its territory (from “Panaria” which means “all bumpy”).
To the right of the mount of Capo Milazzese there is Cala Junco, a charming inlet with crystal clear color-changing water, a pebbled beach and a beautiful reef on the other side. On a large plain above Cala Junco, there is an important site dating back to the Bronze Age (around 1400 BC), with the ruins of a village of about fifty houses where stone walls were found of about twenty oval huts and one squared hut, probably the place of worship of the primitive community.
