Piedimonte Etne was founded in 1867 by Prince Ferdinando Gravina of Palagonia on the slopes of the volcano: in the Mother Church of the beginning of the eighteenth century, there is a polychrome wooden statue of St. Ignatius of the 17th century, while in the church of the Immaculate there are wooden altars of the eighteenth century.
