Sanctuary Saint Francis Of Assisi To The Immaculate

The church of St. Francis of Assisi to the Immaculate is located in the homonymous square in the old town of Catania. The monumental complex includes the convent of St. Francis of Assisi of the Convent Minor Friars. The facade of the late baroque church overlooks the homonymous square. It was completed in the first half of the nineteenth century, with limestone stone from the quarries of Melilli. A staircase leads to the entrance. The churchyard is surrounded by a marble balustrade with statues of St. Joseph of Cupertino, Saint Agata, Saint Chiara of Assisi, St. Bonaventura of Bagnoregio. The present building dates back to the early eighteenth century, after the 1693 earthquake.
The church of St Francis of Assisi is located in Via dei Crociferi 2 and is always open to the public. The celebration of Mass is at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays and at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on holidays.
