The Church of San Cataldo

Built in the 12th century, the church of San Cataldo, next to the Martorana, keeps the linearity of the Arab-Norman style with its three red domes, which give brightness and emphasize the surrounding landscape. It was originally the chapel of a palace built from the will of Maione Bari, the prime minister and admiral of the king William I. Its indoor space is divided into three naves and does not feature any decoration. The only decorative element inside the church is the floor: marble and mosaics are unique examples of Arab decorations.

Accessibility
The presence of a long staircase at the entrance does not allow the access to people in wheelchair and make it difficult for people with reduced mobility. At the moment, there is not an alternative entry. Benches are available at the entrance to rest. No parking areas for disabled are available near the entrance. No toilets are available.
