A Zafferana (574 m asl) has the charm of a town put in danger by the volcano. The Mother church overlooks Piazza Umberto I and can be reached by a stairway leading to the Baroque façade with two twin bell towers: inside there is a painting of St Joseph and the Child, by Giuseppe Sciuti. In the City Hall a standard made by Giuseppe Sciuti is exhibited: it illustrates the Etna eruption of 1852 which stopped just outside the town; the standard was carried in procession during the anniversary of the event.
